Quick, Spoiler-Free Review of Toy Story 3
Pixar hasn't made a bad film, although the quality of their films varies from good (A Bug's Life) to great (Wall-E) to something more extraordinary (Up). Toy Story 3 is merely good. Despite the G rating, some younger children may be traumatized by certain scenes, as evidenced by the number of screaming children who had to be slowly herded from the theater. Contains a few bonus jokes about Ken's lack of masculinity to ensure the kids are developing an appropriate sense of homophobia.

OK. My kids are almost-five and three. Do you think the scary scenes would scare them? My daughter was a bit upset by "How to Train Your Dragon."
Coal Miner's Granddaughter - I don't know what kids should be able to handle at what ages, but there was one scene in particular that involved the toys getting betrayed and left to a fiery death that seemed to upset some of the midgets in the audience (I have no idea how old). I think you should show your kids Kill Bill 1 & 2 beforehand just to desensitize them.
Not having kids can I opt to take some of my semen with me instead to see if they get traumatized?
I think it's less frightening than Bambi's mom getting shot, but some of the scenes were a bit intense, it's true.
You know, since I have a child who was hanging Hello Kitty by a noose from the ceiling when she was nine, I have no idea what would upset normal children with anything, either. They both loved "How to Train Your Dragon" as well, but they are 9 and 12. Ok, my children aren't normal. I can't help.
therrefore cementing my decision to not see it. The Things did this weekend, and liked it, but it wasn't an 'oh WOW' kind of like.
SJ - or you could just borrow some randoms kids off the street and see how they react.
Avitable - it's probably less frightening than Grave of the Fireflies, but more so than My Neighbor Totoro. I mention those two because Japan originally released them as a double bill. If you haven't seen them, give them a shot and marvel at how well they complement each other.
Kira - your kids are ready for Kill Bill. But not you.
tiff - definitely not wow material. But not bad either.
