Quick Question

Why is it that every Japanese restaurant gives you chopsticks unless you ask for a fork, and every other Asian restaurant gives you a fork unless you request chopsticks? Or is that just an Atlanta thing?

Well, there are other Asian countries that use forks and not chopsticks.
But you know that.

They have to offer SOMETHING or guys like you would use their toes.

Do you REALLY want to use Easley as an example? The one J-restaurant we have here only serves chopsticks (I have to get forks for the kids since they don't know how to use them yet). The chinese restaurants ALL give you forks unless you ask for chopsticks. But...it's Easley. you've been here. I don't think it's a good example to study.

Hey I had Thai last Saturday and used chopsticks. I was so proud of myself and my MIL was VERY impressed! Pad Thai was sooooo good. I am jonesing for some good Japanese too. I want to take Madison.

See, our Japanese restaurant gives us forks and we have to ask for chopsticks. I'm not sure the other Asian restaurant we visit even HAS chopsticks...never seen them in there before.

I just use my fingers anyway so it doesn't matter...;)

tai - yes I do. I'm just wondering why all the Malaysian, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Thai restaurants (I haven't tried Korean yet) default to forks and only the Japanese do the opposite.

metalmom - they should offer me one of their waitresses. I'd tip well for that.

kira - "Easley - now with yellow people."

patti - pad thai is good, but my favorite is the green curry.

pq - it must be the Florida influence.

~deb - HA! I use chopsticks with lomein. Of course, I also use them with bbq and baked potatoes.
