Support a Worthy Cause

For those of you fond of saying you support our troops, put your money (or cheesy packages) where your mouth is.

Couldn't I just support the troops by having sex with all of them, male or female? Wouldn't that show them I care?

I use http://anysoldier.com. It doesn't matter which organization you use just send a lonely soldier, who's putting his life on the line, a crossword puzzle and some kool-aid. They will appreciate it & you'll feel good for doing it.

Although, Kira's idea is sounding pretty good.

I've donated to many package sending projects for the troops. I think its a great idea!

tracy - thanks.

sj - note to President Bush: India has WMD's. We must invade and convert them to xtian Americans for the good of the world.

kira - you can start with me. I never got any loving out of the last time, although I heard a rumor that one of the Nevada hohouses was offering a freebie to vets.

angie - I like the way Kira thinks as well, even though she's not Japanese. When I was there I definitely appreciated the Kool-Aid, although a lot of soldiers would prefer books to crossword puzzles (action-oriented material, not chick lit).

Check. No crosswords. Send erotic novel in next package.

Grant, I think Bush won't be invading any countries whose names begin with "I" for a long time.

I do the any service member link--it's on my blog if anyone else wants to check, and yes, I send care packages, but I don't include cheese. Since I am thriving on marital bliss to an infantry guy, I can't exactly entertain the troops as Kira suggests, but it's a fine idea, particularly in Iraq where it's pretty tough to get laid. Of course I've been told by certain military men that the hunger for nookie makes for a meaner, fiercer soldier--my husband said he didn't have sex for 18 months during one segment of his service. I've seen pictures of him (I didn't know him then) and it was scary.

Another way to support our troops is to ask Congress to let their rich kids spend a year in the desert instead of Yale for a real education. I get tired of all my students going into the military because they don't know how else to pay for college--some of those guys won't come back for English 101. Why can't the people who decided that we need this war shoulder a little action? They will still be able to put their kids in Dartmouth when they come back through all their wealth. So the Army can save some income.

EOR, are you kidding? That would be an ethical thing to do and *gasp* honest you wouldn't want ethical and honest people in government.

You're right, SJ. I want too much from my government. They can't even build roads right. But like I said on Fatty's blog, I'm a recovering idealist.
