Since blog traffic has been exceeding my BellSouth webspace bandwidth, I'm trying new hosting services. Walagata dropped their free service and the pay service failed as soon as I signed up, so I cancelled with them. I tried File Lodge last week, and many of you may have noticed my header and profile pic disappeared at random intervals. ICDsoft came recommended, but Xanga's premium service is more economical. I'm using their free service for now, but I may upgrade if it performs well. Let me know if my header or profile pics fail to show anytime this week.
Note - Xanga is another blogging service that also offers file storage and photo management, but I'm sticking with Google blogger because a) I don't want to move my blog after nearly two years of blogging, and b) Xanga seems to draw a younger crowd, which is ironic since they don't allow pre-teen bloggers.

I'll have to check it out!
Zanga is that site that my friend ended up with a bogus page on.
Hope you find something that works for you.
I tried xanga for a while, then I forgot about it. Is it really worth it?
saur kraut - I like Xanga less for blogging purposes (they don't allow direct HTML editing of their templates), but they do seem to have reasonable rates and reliable servers for file hosting.
liz - Xanga's holding so far. Another week and I'll try their premium service for the added bandwidth.
enemy - I don't really care for their blogging services, but I don't mind paying a few bucks for reliable hosting (just not the $17 a month BellSouth wants for its unreliable services).
it's the internet! how can you not allow a certain age group? you dont know how old someone really is on the other side of the computer... but i'll be sure to tell you if i notice something weird!
eh. xanga sucks. bloody teenagers hey?
i'm actually q 40yo - so you're right to attract an older crowd on Blogger.
ttd - yeah, they're working on the honor system. You don't have to provide ID to use their site, but you do have to check a box certifying that you're at least thirteen.
fatty - I always assumed you were a white, middle-aged federal marshal pretending to be an underaged ABC hottie in order to entrap me, but I'm not falling for it, dude.
Well, everything up there looks good so far.
Just one more thing I'd have to figure out...uh-uh. ;)
Good luck with all of that. I'm not a xanga fan myself, but if it works for you, go with it.
I am just going to keep blogger myself. So many choices. I don't like typepad - though it seems to be a more adult crowd, at least with those wanting to write and publish.
I'll stay with blogger thank you very much :)
Im really happy with typepad .I did check out Zanga, but another blogger recomended typepad.
I tried Xanga, but I couldn't get into it. I like Blogger for some reason. I'm not sure what it is.
MySpace also seems to attract a younger crowd despite their efforts to make it 18+. (I happen to know a guy who works at MySpace. He got to meet Chuck Norris because people were using Mr. Norris' name and he wanted it to stop.)
pbs - thanks. It's holding steady, so we may have a winner.
pq - yes, change is bad. :p
joe - mind you, I'm not defecting to Xanga. I'm just using them as a file hosting service since BellSouth became so unreliable.
leesa - I'm happy with blogger, although if you find a service with more Japanese women, please let me know.
patti_cake - me too.
doug - I don't like Xanga's setup options. They're easy, but I like to be able to edit the HTML in my template.
I'll host your images and stuff if you like for free. I don't have a problem with that. I'm only on dsl so if you want me to host streaming content like music or somethin' that may not work but I have several gigs of space on /var
I love your website. It has a lot of great pictures and is very informative.
