Mix CD Meme

I don’t actually burn CD’s because that’s archaic when you’re cool like me and own an iPod, but if I did stoop to that pauper’s level the following is what I’d choose. For a little variety, I’m limiting myself to one artist per question (otherwise it’d be a list of Slayer songs).

1) A favorite political track:
Helter Skelter by the Beatles.
Maybe it’s not really a political song, but the associations with Charles Manson always remind me of Hunter S. Thomson and Nixon. I don’t really listen to political music.

2) One of those tracks that make you dance on the dance floor no matter what:
Pussy Whipped by SOD.
Bear in mind that I only slam dance.

3) The song you’d use to tell someone you love them:
Patience by Guns N’ Roses.
Although when Axl Rose sings “If I can’t have you right now, I’ll wait, dear” I thought he actually said “If I can’t have you right now, I’ll rape you.” I like my version better.

4) A song that has made you sit down and analyze its lyrics:
Loser by Beck.
Tell me you don’t wonder what it all means.

5) A song that you like, that a two year old would like as well:
Happy Happy Joy Joy by Ren and Stimpy.
No explanation is needed.

6) A song that gives you an energy boost:
God Send Death by Slayer.
It’s a good, loud song with lots of screaming about evil things. Whenever I hear it in the gym, I want to dive off my treadmill over the railing Marv-style and kill everyone in the building. Fortunately I have a little impulse control.

7) A song that you and your grandparents would (probably) like:
O Holy Night by Nat King Cole.
No explanation is needed.

8) A song that you really liked when you were 14-16, and still really like now:
Institutionalized by Suicidal Tendencies.
Repo Man rules!

9) A sad song that would be in the soundtrack of the movie about your life:
Might As Well Be on Mars by Alice Cooper.
That pretty well sums up how I feel most days.

10) A peppy song that would start the opening credits of the movie about your life:
Midnight Rider by the Allman Brothers Band.
Rob Zombie made it seem really cool in the Devil’s Rejects, especially with all the murder and mayhem happening while the credits rolled.

11) A good song from a genre of music that no one would guess that you liked:
Still by Alanis Morissette.
Fecking xtian music.

12) A song that you think should have been playing when you were born:
At the Sound of the Demon Bell by Mercyful Fate.
It was nearly impossible to choose just one – Children of the Grave by Black Sabbath, Ulcer Breakout by the Butthole Surfers, Vomit the Soul by Cannibal Corpse, Coffin Fodder or Mother of Abominations or Filthy Little Secret by Cradle of Filth, Redneck Punk by Jackyl, Killer by King Diamond or Iron Maiden, By Demons Be Driven by Pantera, Spreading the Disease by Queensryche, Primitive Man by Ted Nugent, I Wanna Rock by Twisted Sister, Bursting Out by Venom…the list goes on forever.

13) A favorite artist/duo collaboration:
Iron Head by Rob Zombie and Ozzie Osbourne.
It’s not my favorite ditty, but c’mon – Mr. Zombie and the Madman of Heavy Metal? How can you go wrong?

14) A favorite song that you completely disagree with (politically, morally, commonsenically, religiously etc.)
Down to the River to Pray by Alison Krauss.
Please see 11) above.

15) The song that you like despite the fact your IQ level drops several points every time you listen to it:
Painkiller by Judas Priest.
Great music, but some of the dumbest lyrics ever. “Faster than a laser bullet?” Dood, WTF?

16) Your smooth song for relaxing:
Return to Oz by the Scissor Sisters.
I almost chose this one to analyze, but despite the depressing tone and how it applies to me (aging and degradation) I find it oddly comforting.

17) A song you would send to someone you hate or are mad at:
Bleed the Freak by Alice in Chains.
Actually I’d rather send them a twangy country song from somebody like Dolly Parton if I wanted them to suffer, but knowing my luck they would end up liking it.

18) A favorite track from an outfit considered a super group:
Battery by Metallica.
This is still my all-time favorite from the group – energetic with a great topic.

19) A song that makes you reminisce about good times with a family member:
We Destroy the Family by Fear.
Please bear in mind that I hate my family.

20) Your favorite song at this moment in time:
Shrine by King Diamond.
Gothic devil music written by a real Satanist instead of another poser.

21) Your favorite mondegreen (added by me):
Death Comes Ripping by the Misfits.
When they sang the titular line, I always thought they were saying “Dead Bodies for Breakfast.” Again, I like my version better.

Burned from The King who didn’t have a single bit of heavy metal on his playlist. I’m sure it’s just an oversight. For him, I recommend King of the Night Time World by Kiss or Kings of Evil by Venom.

I'm going to have to check out some of the songs you've got listed there...they sounds pretty damn interesting.

And as far as the country music goes, I HATE riding with The PK in his work truck because that's the only thing he wants to listen to and it drives me CRAZY!

Country music is one kind of music i really don't like i can listen to almost everything else.

pq - if he plays country music again, pretend that you have an irresistable urge to sing along - badly. Just make up your own lyrics as you go. "Almighty Satan, grant my husband a bigger penis..." Make sure the window is rolled down.

pink lady - I don't know why so many people claim country music is really popular. Most people I know say they would rather listen to rap, and I'm talking about white rednecks from Georgia. The few that claim to enjoy country music actually like the new country which is pop music with a cowboy hat.

I, ummmmm, well, see, I like country music. But I'm not JUST a country music person, I like a little bit of everything. Example, I like Patience by Guns and Roses. That's a GREAT song. Can you do that little sway thing that he does with the microphone in that video?

Grant said...

april - I don't do the sway, but I have a great stage dive.

I knew you were a devil worshipper. :)

You listed track even moi has never heard. :) Not an easy task, being that I am a repository of useless metal and heavy music knowledge.
