Death to Katrina

While our local fear mongers continue to exploit Katrina for all she's worth, I thought I might try a different approach. Anyone who's tired of sitting on the couch watching the news horror show or using the opportunity to blast the government and their handling of the situation and wants to actually help can look here or in the comments here. My preferred charity is The Salvation Army, who is taking online donations. Note - their web site is currently slow as snail snot, which I take as a sign that a lot of people are trying to help. Try this as a direct link to make a donation.

I just donated a day's pay which should be enough to feed a family for a few days, unless the military gets hold of the budget, in which case I say to this family: Enjoy your new nail clippers.

In case anyone is thinking I've turned soft, I assure you this is all enlightened self-interest. I had a killing spree planned at Mardi Gras next year and I don't want some blinking natural disaster draining the victim pool. In your face, Mother Nature!

killing spree or not, that's a really nice thing you did.

For what is worth, I am proud of you :)

Good for you man. With four kids and the rising gas prices one of the things that has been cut into is my charitable donations, however I will be donating to "Feed the Children" my next pay becuase they do a lot of disaster releif and our family's charity of choice.

If I ever hear of anyone rounding up help to go and shoot looters, I'll send 'em your way...

Good job donating, Grant. If there was anyone I suspected would get right out there and donate, it would have been you. You badass, you.
