Hopefully Not Too Late

If you're still shopping for that special gift for that special someone, look no further than here. If you're impossibly picky and can't find anything satisfactory on that gift guide, check out the previous years: 2003 - 2002 - 2001 - 2000 - 1999

And speaking of HKRXmasux, is it just me or are gift certificates the most impersonal thing you could possibly give? They're basically just cash that has to be spent at a specific store or web site. Some credit card companies are addressing that limitation by selling gift cards that can be used wherever their card is accepted. Imagine that! With only a little additional time, effort, and money, you can give something as imperonal as a wad of cash that's almost (but not quite) as useful. Gift certificates are okay for companies to give to their employees (nobody is expecting any personal attention in those cases), but for friends and family you should either put forth a little effort, or just hand them a $20 and say "I don't actually care enough about you to put forth any real effort." If they feel the same way, they can just hand it back and say "Thanks. I feel the same way." I you are really honest with your friends, you can just stand in a circle and pass a $20 around until the HKRXmasux spirit takes hold and drives you to the egg nog.

Ho, out
