Another Movie Recommendation

Bubba Ho-Tep, based upon a Joe R. Lansdale novella, is another horror/comedy that doesn't pull punches in either genre. If that's not enough, it is the best Elvis movie ever (even though it doesn't feature Elvis or one of his songs) and it even manages to slip in several poignant observations on the ravages of old age.

Also, Lansdale is a highly under-appreciated author, capable of being equally harsh, gritty, and funny all at once. His short story collections are especially wild. I've never seen anybody else include stories from the point of view of the family cat who's planning to bump off the dog, Godzilla in a 12 step program, a musing about what if Wild Bill Hickock had become an accountant, and humorous buddy stories involving snuff flicks and necrophilia all in the same book.

Critic, out

I am in total agreement with you here. Bruce Campbell has acting range that is truly remarkable. Also, Don Coscarelli did a fantastic job with the direction and screenplay. his effort on this film is superior to Phantasm, which is a classic in the horror drama
