Movie character #5 – the doctor is in

Dr. Horrible, played by Neil Patrick Harris

The good: he’s bad.
The bad: he’s not that good at…wait, this sounds familiar.
The ugly: he reminds me of myself way too much, especially in his super-human ability to not get a date.
Best line: “I have a PhD in horribleness.”

He’s a super villain who dreams of (in no certain order) world conquest, joining the Evil League of Evil, and dating Penny, a girl he sees at the Laundromat. Although technically on the side of evil, he acts with the best of intentions, such as creating positive social change, making a lot of money, and getting Penny to go out with him (the thought of her inspires him to create a freeze ray). At the beginning of the series he has yet to advance to the stage of actually speaking to her, something with which I can painfully identify.

Note – technically Dr. Horrible’s Sing-a-long Blog is listed as a TV series even though it was originally web-cast in three acts, but I count it as a short movie.

I would like them to make a sequel.

Dr. Horrible is really awesome. Great choice.

And, the great thing about a blog is that you can stretch the meaning of "movie" to include this!

Is it said that I identify with Dr. Horrible, too? Because I don't want it to be. Plus, he sings, yo. He fucking SINGS.

+1 on sequel.

This dude was funny in Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay. Hilarious!!! I've not seen him as Dr. Horrible, but I bet he's awesome as him, too. These lists are getting better and better!

I have not seen him in that role but what I have seen is impressive!

Now I simply MUST see it, if it's, as you say, like your life. That's my tipping point, right there.

LOVE Dr. Horrible. You're hitting it out of the park with some of these.

How have I not seen this movie?? I feel so left out. I watch odd balls like "Cats and Dogs"

HEY WTF!!! This is the problem. I have only got to see kids movies for the past decade. Pokemon sucks!!!

Captain Dumbass - haven't read it, but I'll look for it. If I don't like it, I'll fine you.

Avitable - I'm mixed on that. It was awesome, but I really felt the story had been told and would be better left alone.

Jay - not only does iTunes label it a TV show, but it was even up for an emmy. I hope it won.

Mighty Hunter - he sings quite well. Maybe we should add it to our repertoire.

Monogram Queen - you haven't seen Star Wars OR Dr. Horrible? Does SC have electricity yet?

April - as Dr. Horrible, he's cooked in awesome after being marinated in awesome juice and is then topped with awesome sauce.

SJ - I would recommend you watch it for free on Hulu, but that service is only available for Americans. Time for you to defect.

tiff - iTunes has it in high def for about $6.

Kathy B! - for light-hearted entertainment, I thought it had a lot of subtle nuances that made it better than most feature films.

Hit 40 - Dr. Horrible is kid safe, so check it out. It's on DVD and (at least when I last looked) Hulu and iTunes.
