Too busy for a proper post

So here's a modified meme. Grab the nearest book, whatever it is, go to page 123, find the 4th sentence, and then type in the next five sentences.

Mona with her dreadlocks and crystal necklaces. I ask if she's a Hopi Indian.

With his fingers, Oyster fishes around inside the bag.

And Helen says, "Mona, you're not a native anything. Your real last name is Steinner."

- Lullaby, by Chuck Palahniuk

Literarily jacked from here. I tag - everyone who reads. The rest of you should hang your heads in shame.

A hummingbird alighted for a moment on the honeysuckle branch next to the window, then zoomed off above the trees. "I've decided to just ignore it. Hopefully it will all go away."

Tritia frowned. It wasn't like Irene to simply "hope" that something would go away.

- The Mailman by Bentley Little

I bought this book simply because the names of two of the main characters are Doug and Tritia. They are husband and wife. My wife's name is even spelled the same way.

"...persecutions grew so severe that large numbers of Christians fled to Constantinople and other Christian cities. More persecutions in 923 saw additional churches destroyed, and in 937, Muslims went on a Palm Sunday rampage in Jerusalem, plundering and destroying the Church of Calvary and the Church of the Resurrection."

"I will do these things to every member of the community who has conspired against me. They will all die here in this wilderness! Then the ten scouts who had incited the rebellion against the Lord by spreading discouraging reports about the land were struck dead with a plague before the Lord. Of the twelve who had explored the land, only Joshua and Caleb remained alive. When Moses reported the Lord's words to the Israelites, there was much sorrow among the people."

You knew I'd have a bible next to me, right?

doug - I got a book from the library because the author had almost the same name as me. It sucked. I guess I'm the only one with this name AND some talent.

saur - a friend told me the muslim extremists actually parade around with signs in Paris reading "French people go home!" So, hostility in the Middle East is not a new thing, huh?

~deb - it would have been funny if you opened it to the "Judge with righteous judgment" part and were forced to quote that out of context. :p

Obi-Wan felt his throat tighten. "Are you suggesting I force his mind?"

"No, of course not," C'Baoth assured him. But the words, Obi-Wan knew, were for Anakin's benefit. That was, in fact, exactly what C'baoth had been suggesting.

Interesting tidbit, Grant: I Googled "Judge with righteous judgment" It reported '1 - 10 of about 666 for "Judge with righteous judgment".'

What is it about the English that makes us love animals and dislike foreigners in almost equal measure? Why is it that the transport of veal calves in tiny crates prompts open weeping from demonstrators, and yet when the victims of political oppression are packed into prison ships it is described as luxurious first-class accommodation paid for by Britain's tax-payers? (It's a shame none of the asylum seekers ever murdered thousands of political opponents in Chile or we could have put them up in a luxury mansion next to Wentworth golf course.) The fear that we used to have for rabies was out of all proportion to the reality of the problem and the same is now true of asylum seekers. There is a madness that has swept this country, but you don't get it from a dog bite, you get it from listening to politicians debating refugees.

You know, the book I'm reading right now is Aims of Argument, the textbook for the new 103 class I'm teaching this fall. I looked it up as per the requirements, and what I'd have to type is related to MLA citations. Believe me, we're all better off if I don't. Maybe I'll come back and do this one with the other book I'm reading right now (about wine! surprised???).

Beside the decapitated rat, a smug expression on its face, was the black cat. It rested one paw on the gray glass marble.

"I think I once mentioned", said the cat, "that I dont like rats at the best of times. It looked like you needed this one, however.I hope you don't mind my getting involved".

"What have you been telling them?" She demanded.

"Nothing, nothing," he said an innocent look on his face.

"You've not been carrying on with that 'sorcerer in the mountain' business have you?"

"Course not, we've just been talking. Right girls?"

The girls nodded and Addie eyed them suspicously.

My manuscript was technically the closest book to me.

The Standard format (shown in Figure 5-3), which has the most conservative appearnce, is generally the best choice for business forms.
If you want a more extensive choice of conservative color schemes, follow these steps to create your own scheme and save it to one of the named schemes in the AutoFormat dialog box.
Change the form's background color, control background, control text color, and control fonts to the colors and style you prefer.
Open the AutoFormat dialog box, and select a named format (Stone, for example)

Okay, this is from Whose Bible is It?: Fpr exa,[;e. tje suste, pf
tenses in Hebrew does not really correspond to the ones familiar to us in any of the Indo-European languages, including English. Therefore the same Hebrew verb in the Psalms was translated with the perfect tense in Latin: "I have lifted up my hills up in my eyes to the hills" (and the Psalm was therefore called Levavi), but the English of the Jewish Publication Society Version, it is translated with the present, "I turn my eye to the mountains" and in the King James Version as " I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills."

I have to read this stuff for work. I personally prefer science fiction and Giant Atomic Chickens.
