Teriyaki sauce is extremely easy to make at home, so there's no need to buy it separately. If you like homemade Japanese food, you'll probably have all the ingredients you need on hand.
1/4 cup mirin (sweet Japanese cooking wine)
2 tablespoons soy sauce (I use the reduced-sodium kind)
1 teaspoon granulated sugar
Mix and you're done. Makes enough for four meals. I used it with yesterday's recipe. Goes great with chicken, beef, and most fish, especially salmon although more delicately flavored white fish (such as tilapia) can be overpowered.

how about oyster sauce?
(i think you're just postponing your story).
you must have read my mind Grant (and no quips about short stories, thanks!)
I was just trying to decide if I should make some teriyaki chicken on rice with steamed veggies for dinner or not.
But I don't have any mirin.
:(
You really ARE turning Japanese..I really think so!!!
That sounds really good. I'm wondering if I can find mirin here, though.
HEY! I can actually make that. I DO have the ingredients. I have mirin at home because Ariana likes...man, let me think how to spell it...tamago? The egg stuff that is usually sliced and served over sushi rice? One needs mirin for that, so I've got it. We have the technology!
Nice! Where you get this guestbook? I want the same script.. Awesome content. thankyou.
