So much for the Aussie attitude

Who was the idiot who said Australians seemed laid-back?

Key quote: "Australian cheerleaders have been banned from baring midriffs by officials of the sport who fear displays of skin may encourage eating disorders."

Maybe they are really worried about possible snake/spider/scorpion bites.

What has laid-back got to do with protectionism? Don't read the situation as an american one.

Don't cha think maybe we are more resistant to body-image ideals and demands than americans?

Its kinda stupid - whats next, cleavage?

[i'm not taking this personally grant, though i should...]

Might as well just poke the teenage girls eyes out. I mean, they're gonna see it somewhere anyways.

Maybe they mean the guys will be dropping food; getting food on their faces as they watch?

Well the easy and obvious answer is to hire only fat cheerleaders...

So since they can't bare a midriff anymore, I am starting to think better about myself (and am no longer purging).

Well they have to cover up there midriffs but does it say they have to cover up the bits above and below.

liz - it's going to be hard for them to cheer in full body armor.

fatty - I was surprised at that one. It does sound like something an uptight American religious group would attempt.

bluebolt - try the Spice channel.

pq - yes, that's a much better idea. Next, they'll want to sue McDonalds for making them fat.

rick - that could lead to weight loss, which would not be good.

saur kraut - that would keep people focused on the game. "Give me an A, give me a U, give me a donut..." Unfortunately, all that exercise might cause them to slim down, then they'll have to be replaced.

leesa - now if they'll just pass a law requiring everybody else to gain weight and act creepy, I can feel better about myself.

hellbunny - that's thinking like a guy. I thought the same thing. I can't wait to see them run onto the field wearing nothing but a sash around their middle.
