J-Update

I had a private session with sensei last night to make up for the week I missed. I did pretty well. We covered two chapters and I understood all the basics, so we spent the remaining minutes just chatting (mostly in Japanese, a little in English). I told her about my lunch at Umezono and she agreed it's a good restaurant and mostly authentic (she claimed one of the waitresses wasn't actually Japanese). For the first time, sensei didn't act like she hated my stinking American guts. Maybe all the miso soup is making me smell Japanese. Or maybe it was the box of dead squirrels I sent her. There's nothing like a loving care package to change a woman's feelings for you. That's a hint, guys. Write it down.

No miso for you Angie! ;)

Now, the comment you left on my blog has me worried about eating sushi or miso at all at this point! The water that mixes with the sodium doesn't really sit with me too well...nor does it make me appear thinner in that full length mirror. Oy.

Dead squirrels? Is that anything like sending over some grilled possum?

are you making fun of me grant, lol

Yeah, no.... I cant really say a box of dead squirrels would trip my trigger. Probably best to NOT make mental notes of that little trick :P

I can tell you really love this woman.

Deads squirrels, huh?

Well, I suppose if you skin them, they do last longer than roses.

;)

Now I understand J-obsessed! Does that include Japanese animation?

Wish I had a man to send me a box of fuzzy little critters ;)

angie - feck off! :p Okay, that's Irish, but it's close enough. For some reason they haven't taught us any useful Japanese, like how to curse at people and hit on women.

~deb - grilled 'possum is a delicacy 'round these here parts. Squirrel is for everyday snacking.

blondie - ever the romantic. :)

pink - yes "Die in Satan's name" is more effective than I originally thought.

no1special - sauce rulz! Especially with the right pills. :p

grant - you are so good looking.

no1special - I was serious about my exercise thoughts. I always wondered how much of a cardio workout you could get if you set the treadmill to vertical.

kerry - she's no Ninja Bunny Dentist, but she's very cute.

pq - you can stick the roses and squirrels in the freezer next to the severed heads and they'll all last a long time.

chele - anime is good, although a lot of it seems like porn for pedophiles. I like J-horror better (which is like porn for cannibals).

liz - you need a secret psychotic admirer. :p

Little dead chipmunks are cuter and say I love you MORE.

Ha ha, and how do you say "box of dead squirrels" in Japanese?

Joe said...

Good thinking, Doug. Dead squirrels make for an excellent meal and thier pelts can be used to make a warm blanket for those cold winter days.

Deb said...

Mmmm...grilled squirrel topped off with delicious eggcorns on a bed of poison ivy.

aka fatty - good at jap? I'm great at watching their horror movies, drinking sake, and eating vegetable tempura, but I sound like a moron when I try to speak the language.

tigerkiss - yes, I'm learning Japanese. I always wanted to be bilingual as well and I finally decided to do something about it.

kira - damn. I should have thought of that. I guess sensei-usagi will be getting another care package from me.

pbs - I don't know. They never teach you anything useful in those classes.

joe - it's hard to make a decent blanket with those tiny pelts. I've just been using them as doilies and coasters.

~deb - I got into some poison ivy as a child and swelled so bad it forced my eyes shut, so I think I'll use milk thistle as a healthful substitute.

Deb said...

What's a milk thistle? Those milkweeds?

Grant said...

~deb - what's a milkweed? Is that one of your damned Yankee plants? The one to which I was referring grows mostly in Kentucky. It's a small plant covered in stickers that oozes a milky white substance if you whack it with a lawnmower.

So I went to a chinese place for lunch today and while I was listening to them converse, I started laughing. I have this problem a lot when I hear Asian's talk. I find it crazy funny. I can't help it. Then I realized that they always sound angry when they're talking. Always. And it seems like they're telling at each other too.

Just wanted to share.
