Well, I finally did it. I did the thing I always said I wouldn’t do because the goal seems so unreachable. I joined NaNoWriMo.
In case you’re not a writer, or if you’re just a complete dumbass, allow me to tell you that NaNoWriMo is an annual opportunity for us writers to beat ourselves up more than we already do. The goal is to write a 50,000 word novel during the month of November, or two thousand words a day for twenty-five out of the thirty days in the month. Some days I have trouble cranking out 500.
My goal is to finish the current novel this month. If I fall short, I will fill my car with napalm and crash it into that Scientology church I’ve been meaning to erase. If I live to see November I plan to write at least 50,000 words on the next novel during the month of NaNoWriMo. If I write any short stories during that time, I’m counting those towards the completion of my goal.
Speaking of short stories, I have another short short ready to be read if anyone is interested. If you’re already on my distribution list, I’ll send it to you tonight. If you want to be added, just shoot me an e-mail. If you don’t like my writing, just shoot yourself. :p
Final note – don’t bother me with useless words of encouragement. Join NaNoWriMo yourself so I can taunt you when you fail.

So after you knock yourself out for a whole month writing this novel, do they publish it, give you a book signing date, promote it on PBS and give you a car? I sure hope so.
